How much will my Project cost?

Every project is unique, and pricing depends on scope, materials, layout changes, and structural requirements. During your free in-home consultation, we assess your space, discuss your goals and budget, and provide a detailed written estimate outlining exactly what is included.

We revise estimates as needed to ensure clarity and comfort before any work begins.

Are Estimates Free?

Yes. We provide free, no-obligation consultations and written quotations. We believe you should fully understand your project scope and investment before making any commitment.

There is no pressure — just honest advice and professional guidance.

Will I receive a written contract?

Absolutely. No work begins without a detailed, written, and signed quotation. Your proposal clearly outlines scope of work, materials, pricing, and project expectations so you know exactly what you’re receiving.

Transparency is a cornerstone of how we operate.

Do you Provide a Warranty?

All work is backed by our 2 year written workmanship warranty in addition to applicable manufacturer warranties on materials. We follow the Renomark Standard and New Home warranty program. We stand behind what we build and take pride in delivering lasting quality.

Do I need Permits for my Renovation and do you handle the process?

Permits are required for most major renovations to your home, while some smaller projects may not require formal approval. In every case, we carefully assess your project to determine what is needed. When permits are required, we manage the entire permitting process on your behalf — coordinating applications, securing approvals, and scheduling all necessary inspections. Our team ensures every stage of construction meets local building regulations and is completed to the highest standard of compliance and quality.

Will you stay on budget?

At DeVries Construction & Renovation, staying on budget starts with doing the work properly before construction ever begins. Even our initial “working draft” estimates are thoughtfully prepared and detailed, giving you a realistic understanding of your project investment from the outset.

Our structured planning process is designed to minimize unexpected costs. With years of hands-on renovation experience, we understand how homes in Winnipeg are built and where potential challenges may arise. That insight allows us to anticipate common issues early and address them during the planning stage — not midway through construction.

We take the time upfront to clearly define the scope of work, materials, and expectations so there is no confusion about what is included in your quotation. Once finalized and approved, we remain committed to that written price. The only circumstances that may affect budget are client-requested changes, upgrades, or unforeseen structural conditions that could not have been reasonably identified prior to opening walls or floors.

Clear planning, honest communication, and detailed documentation lead to predictable outcomes. Our goal is to provide you with confidence — not surprises — throughout your renovation.

Who will be working on my home?

One of the benefits of working with DeVries Construction & Renovation is consistency. You deal with the same professional who provided your estimate throughout the entire project.

Much of our work is completed in-house, allowing for stronger quality control and accountability. Licensed trades such as plumbing and electrical are brought in when required to ensure compliance and safety.

Will someone always be working on my project once construction begins?

Yes. One of the advantages of working with DeVries Construction & Renovation is that we carefully manage our workload to ensure consistent progress. We intentionally limit the number of active projects we take on at any given time — typically no more than three — so our team can remain focused and present on your job site.

From the day construction begins to the day your project is complete, you can expect steady on-site activity and hands-on supervision. The only times work may temporarily pause are for scheduled inspections, necessary material curing periods (such as concrete or finishing products), or in rare cases, unforeseen material delays.

Our goal is simple: maintain momentum, minimize downtime, and deliver your renovation efficiently without sacrificing quality.

How long will my renovation take?

The timeline for your renovation depends largely on the size, scope, and complexity of the project. Factors such as structural modifications, layout changes, material selections, custom millwork, permit requirements, and specialty trades all play a role in determining how long the process will take.

Smaller, well-defined projects with minimal structural changes typically move more quickly, while larger renovations — such as whole-home remodels or additions — require more detailed planning, coordination, and phased execution. Projects that involve engineering, inspections, or custom-ordered materials may also require additional time to ensure everything is completed properly and to code.

At DeVries Construction & Renovation, we prioritize thorough planning before construction begins. By clearly defining the scope of work, confirming selections in advance, and coordinating trades carefully, we reduce delays and maintain steady progress once your project is underway.

Before we begin, we review the anticipated construction schedule with you so expectations are clear. Throughout the build, we provide updates and maintain open communication so you always understand where your project stands.

Our focus is not just speed — it’s delivering a well-organized, properly executed renovation that meets our quality standards and your expectations.

When can you start work on my home?

The start date for any project depends on the type of renovation, the scope of work involved, and the level of planning required. We prefer not to discuss timelines until we’ve had the opportunity to meet with you, review your space, and fully understand your project goals.

Every renovation is different. Smaller, straightforward projects may be scheduled sooner, while larger renovations — such as additions or whole-home transformations — typically require more detailed planning, material coordination, permit approvals, and pre-booking to ensure everything is properly organized before construction begins.

Because we intentionally limit the number of active projects we take on at one time, we’re able to maintain consistent on-site progress once your job starts. This means scheduling is handled carefully to ensure we can dedicate the necessary attention and manpower to your home.

After your consultation and detailed quotation, we’ll review our current schedule with you and provide a realistic start window based on the size and complexity of your project. Our goal is to ensure that when we begin, we’re fully prepared — allowing your renovation to move forward efficiently and professionally from day one.

Can I Live in my home during the renovation?

In most cases, yes — but it depends on the size, scope, and location of the renovation within your home.

For smaller or more contained projects, such as a bathroom update or basement development even kitchen developments, homeowners are able to remain in their homes with minimal disruption. For larger renovations — whole-home remodels, or projects involving major structural changes — temporary adjustments may be required, and in some cases, short-term relocation may be recommended for comfort and safety.

At DeVries Construction & Renovation, we take steps to minimize disruption wherever possible. We maintain clean and organized job sites, use protective coverings to safeguard flooring and surrounding areas, and communicate clearly about what to expect at each phase of construction. If certain utilities will be temporarily unavailable, we discuss that with you in advance so you can plan accordingly.

During your consultation, we’ll review your project details and provide honest guidance about whether remaining in the home is practical. Our goal is to make the renovation process as smooth, respectful, and manageable as possible for you and your family.
